Today I went to a meeting.
It was not just an average meeting but it was more than.
There was actually some redemption at New Life Church.
Ross had us divide into groups of 15 people and we read a chapter and went into discussion. He feels as if we as staff don't do enough connecting on a more intimate level in sharing and talking through the Bible. We took time to introduce ourselves and find out what department we all work in. It was good to talk and share and to be on one level with all. The discussions were good and the last verse in Luke chapter 14, was about salt and if it loses its saltiness, how then does it become salty again? I shared what came to mind . . God is like salt in our lives, it can preserve us, and give us each individual flavor. When we start to take the world's pressures and participate in things, it is like water and starts to slowly dilute the saltiness. We can then be come so diluted, there's only a hint of the salt in our life. However, if we want to come back to the basics of God, we have to sacrifice things of this earth and worldly desires and let God evaporate all the water. Salt is the only thing that remains. Let God be the flavor and salt of your life. My I not be diluted by the things of this world.
There was also another revelation about the "church" -- so many times I feel like the corporate body of the church doesn't really want the bad sinners, and the sick, the lame, mute, deaf and blind. . . we tend to go for those people who are more like us, those that have money or people who are 'cool'. We should strive for more. Help the refugees, be a support for those starving and suffering of AIDS. We must help the genocide victims throughout the world and love on them. We can't be content in our little happy lives and keep inviting the popular and the pretty, reach out to the neighbor who doesn't have much, the the Lord will take your hand and bless it.
