Yesterday morning, there was nursing and sleeping snuggles with my bébé, while wearing my Grandma's red robe and reminiscing about a lot of things. ❤️🥰 Wishing our Betty Jane was still here to meet and love on ALL my boys. I love that her birthday month and birthstone (Garnet!!) are the same as Colton's. Everett was named after her dad and son (my Papa!). Her legacy lives on in many different ways. She is missed and loved...
Yesterday morning we went yard sale-ing and found some cool things! Stepping stone kits for the yard..with hand or foot prints of my boys...After going to five sales, we then headed to the Heritage Outdoor Days .. it was cool because we got to learn about some outdoor stuff and both the boys received free fishing poles! 🙌🏻 A generous gift from the Colorado State Parks & Wildlife. Thank you!

Good and fun things happened yesterday (like a visit from my Momma and her friend and Realtor, Lisa. We sat and chatted about real estate, books and cooking!) but I want to focus on what happened last night:
First, impromptu dinner with our neighbors (and friends!). I love hosting and it was great I whip up some food and grill out and..
Second, sit and dine OUTSIDE on our patio furniture!!
Third, once they went back home it was almost dark. The wind had been blowing in bursts and there was a rain cloud in the nearer distance with lightning. We had planned to cook hotdogs over a fire but the wind wasn't cooperating so Jeff grilled out on the BBQ. The s'mores didn't happen but we still had a little fire in the backyard. The stars were bright, the storm cloud in the distance made us oooh and awww at the lightning, we watched jets pass overhead and talked about their flight paths. Jeff turned on some music and Colton held the hand-held speaker. We danced around and laughed and watched the fiery blaze! It was Everett's first outdoor fire and I think he liked it. He stared and then kicked his little baby feet! Jeff's DJ skills were spot on and he played a variety of fun, good tunes but one song he knew was from our wedding: Hey Ho by the Lumineers. The lyrics go, "I belong to you, you belong to me, you're my sweetheart!" We were just in the moment and held our boys in our arms, sang and did a little swaying dance together. We looked into each other's eyes, kissed and just enjoyed the music and the moment. It was just a perfect night! At one point, I stood with Ev in my arms and on my hip and Jeff came around from behind and put his hand on my hips, like he did nearly six years ago. On a late, sunny afternoon day (in his cousins backyard with their kids playing), Jeff whispered in my ear, "I want to make babies with you." And here we are / there we were: last night, in love, in the backyard of our great home, with gratitude in our hearts for the MANY things, colorful prayer flags flying, the patio lights glowing under the stars and trees, and singing, laughing and dancing with our babies. It was good. And when Jeff said to Colton, 'Let's go dance with Mommy,' my heart melted a little bit even more. Our shadows were dancing along the fence as we made some memories last night. Cherished moments that won't be easily forgotten. The temperature was lovely, too. A perfect temp makes an evening all the better. Flip flops and tank tops. Yes. Please.
Jeff has texted me these words yesterday afternoon and they made my heart flitter: "Love you and thanks for being an amazing Mama to those boyz! They are lucky!" But I'm the one that feels lucky...oh, so very lucky and so very loved.
