For many, many years, I have desired to write a mission statement - inspired by my Papa! I've been collecting information in a file folder since, well, before 2008. Some things from 2006 and other inspirational collections from over the years. I wanted to write one by age 25. Then that came and went and then I thought by age 30. BBuh-bye. Now, 35. Okay, zoom. That went flying past. So, here we are, at 36 years old, I have it done. (By the encouragement of my wild + free mamas, I could use it as my base and refine as the years go on - I like that because I will change and different things may become more priority...)
It makes my heart happy to have all these things written down. Quite frankly, when I think of the books I've read, the life lessons I've had - I wouldn't have come to the conclusion of all these great values without the years of life I've experienced. That gives me some comfort because when I was 25 - my values would have looked different -- travel, friends, travel! When I got done with my first draft of my values - I realized that travel wasn't even ON MY LIST. Whoa. That hit me because honestly, the priorities of family have overwhelmed me in the greatest way. My dream was to grow up and be a mom (and a news reporter!) and was etched in my heart from a very young age. Now, as a mama, it's amazing to be living a dream. Some of the things that I encourage my boys in are the things that I used to think about doing ... one day! The days are here, they are rich. They are good. Here's to a starting place, growing and getting better. <3
